There are several reasons that I will not allow my children to play with foam weapons. While less dangerous than real weapons, I do not like to lead children into thinking that weapons or the use of weapons are in any way fun or something that should be used for entertainment. Foam weapons are an unacceptable toy in my opinion and I will not purchase a foam weapon for my children or anyone else’s children. I disagree with the manufacturing and sale of products that are meant to teach children to resort to violence even in times of play and pretend. I do not think that foam weapons are a suitable item for children to be allowed and therefore ban them in my household. Items such as NERF guns that use foam ammunition to be shot from a plastic gun holds too big of a similarity to me to actual weapons. Children are too impressionable to be able to distinguish play items from reality and therefore I do not think that such toys should be allowed around such impressionable minds.
